A Passion For Children And Experience With Their Care

Welcome and thank you for taking an interest in the Islington Village Child Care Centre.

I am thrilled to be a part of this special and unique community as I begin this journey and share with you my dream.

Years ago, my experience began through volunteering in kindergarten classrooms and community camps.  At a young age, I was eager to be certified in babysitting and sit for neighbourhood families.  I also worked in the daycare at Bally Matrix Fitness Centre for years.  The birth of my sister Christina when I was only 14 years old gave me years of hands-on experience in nurturing a newborn and encouraging the development of a young child.

With the decision to follow my passion and pursue it as my career, I furthered my vision and enrolled in college.  I am an ECE Honours graduate from Humber College, a program I enjoyed thoroughly.

From 1998-2011, I was co founder, co owner and operator of Maple Preschool. Through thirteen years of experience in executing and maintaining my own centre I was able to build a wealth of practical knowledge which I bring to the Islington Village Child Care Centre.

Family owned and operated, our centre has been designed to meet the needs of your family.

I am proud to reside in the Humber Valley Community and I have 3 children of my own.   I truly understand the importance and challenges of maintaining a “happy home”.   Knowing your children are in good hands is priceless. We strive to create an environment where parents feel a sense of comfort when they bring their children to our centre and continue on with their daily agenda.

I believe balance is an integral part of a child’s early development. At Islington Village Child Care Centre it is our goal to create a safe environment where children are nurtured and have fun.  Play based learning and jolly phonics are integrated into the program to ensure educational stimulation, preparing children for the next phase of their learning development.

Our objective is for children to build up self esteem and inner confidence.  These basic, yet essential tools are imperative for a child’s future.

I thank you again for your interest. I am certain that your requests and requirements will be met and maintained at Islington Village Child Care Centre.

Kind Regards,

Julia Meffe, RECE

In 2008, I began to work at Braeburn Neighbourhood Place. Braeburn is where I realized that working with children was my calling.

In 2011, I started at The Learning Enrichment Foundation where I spent 3 fulfilling years and worked with all age groups from infants to school age.

In March 2014, I was lucky to have a chance to start employment at Islington Village Child Care Centre. After 3 months, I was entrusted with a huge role at the centre as Assistant Supervisor. Through my years here I have learned the requirements of operating a daycare and the importance of building strong relationships with families, community and my coworkers.I have met wonderful people throughout my years working in the childcare field.

As a mother of two beautiful girls I have learned the importance of early child development. My children have taught me patience, understanding and how to enjoy life to the fullest. I am a strong believer that children develop at their own pace and with the right guidance children can learn from their everyday life experiences.

Welcome to Islington Village!

Kind regards,

Lisa Carlos, CSSW
Hi all! Thank you for your interest in our centre, our programs and our staff. I have spent over a year as the Supervisor at Islington Village Child Care Centre. Prior to my supervisor role, I was in a busy toddler room for about a year, working alongside terrific room partners. Since my first day at Islington Village, I knew this was a place that I had envisioned myself in, as an educator; the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the knowledgeable staff, and the wonderful families is what drew me to the centre!
After completing the Early Childhood Education program at Conestoga College and registering with the College of Early Childhood Educators, I moved to Toronto and obtained a position as a nanny right away. Although my time with the family was special, and a wonderful stepping stone, I knew I wanted to impact the early learning field on a grander scale. I pursued Islington Village as a top organization, because of their glowing reputation within the community. And now, almost three years later, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the success of our children, the bonds between our families, and the inclusive and engaging program we’ve created.
Thank you again for your interest in Islington Village.
Sincerely,
Justyna Iskat, RECE
